The most classic of all Swedish dishes. The traditional accompaniments are lingonberry jam (similar to cranberry sauce), creamy gravy and sliced pickles.

Ingredients

1 bag potatoes (app. 12 medium potatoes in bag), peeled
400 ml long-lasting UHT milk or Oatly iKaffe oat milk
200 ml water
2 bag sauce mix, creamy brown gravy (comes in pack of 3 bags)
2 pack meatballs, Swedish style, 350g in a pack (the veggie balls are in the vegetarian/vegan section, "veggie balls, pea protein")
0.5 jar jam, lingonberry
0.5 jar pickles / gherkins, sliced

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes.
  2. Whisk creamy gravy mix with 100 ml water and 200 ml milk. Bring to a boil and lower the heat. Let simmer for 2 minutes. Taste, maybe a little more salt & black pepper. Set aside.
  3. Fry meatballs.
  4. Serve potatoes and meatballs with creamy gravy, lingonberry jam and pickles.
